Forgive me for taking too long to put out another issue. When you get to be my age and a calamity such as Covid happens, you spend a lot of time reflecting on the choices you made in life. Whether those choices were good or bad, only one truth remains...
The past is just a goodbye.
That’s all it is. You made it through.
Now, we’ve got people to see... things we want to know... voices we want to hear. BTS signed a deal with McDonalds. That’s huge, Beatles huge, which is why we profiled them. If Covid has taught us one lesson, it’s that anything can happen, anywhere, anyplace, anytime. Like I told my colleagues, if Jim Morrison wakes up one morning and announces to the world that he is still alive, you should be prepared for it. Or at the very least, it should be within your realm of possibility.
Movies have opened to thousand-theatre breaks again. We can only hope that cinema retains the cultural relevance of Broadway. Restaurants have opened and the best culinary artists in the world cannot wait to serve you the finest food, and the best young bartenders cannot wait to serve you the best drinks possible and I promise you, we will do our best in the future to profile each and every one of them. I feel I speak for all of us when I say that, despite their pricing, employment and current supply chain issues, we appreciate them now more than ever.
The worm is turning...
Vitalik Buterin became a billionaire and quite possibly the most influential man of the 21st century with his Ethereum Blockchain. Richard Branson and Virgin Galactic had a successful test flight into space. Elon Musk was Time magazine’s “Man of the Year” and
Joe Rogan signed a $100 million dollar deal with Spotify, all during the pandemic, and it was an honor to profile them all.
There is a great power to thinking outside yourself... to trusting the process
with your colleagues as you change the world one minute... one hour... one day at
a time. If this concept sometimes seems foreign to me, it is because I am a simple,
two-dimensional mind from a different world... and a different time...
But if you are patient enough, I promise you we will get there together.
